What Does a Contract Administrator Do?
A Contract Administrator oversees the entire duration of contracts, from their initial drafting to their final execution. They ensure that all contractual terms and conditions are fulfilled and that all parties involved adhere to their obligations.
Typically, a Contract Administrator is responsible for drafting and managing legal contracts for their organization. Their role includes resolving any disputes or queries related to contracts, assessing potential risks associated with them, and collaborating with legal and procurement teams.
Contract Administrator Responsibilities
- Coordinate with employees at all levels within the company to develop and evaluate a thorough contract strategy.
- Create uniform language and guidelines for contracts.
- Work together with internal procurement, legal, and human resources teams to ensure compliance with contracts.
- Communicate and explain contract processes, terms, and details to management, business partners, and employees.
- Gather contract-related information from the appropriate parties.
- Assess contracts to confirm their accuracy and resolve any discrepancies in alignment with company policies and guidelines.
- Make sure that all necessary documentation is included with contracts and keep both digital and physical copies of relevant documents.
- Act as an intermediary between parties during contract development, handle negotiations on terms and conditions, and draft and revise modifications as needed.
- Assess potential risks that contract changes might present to the company.
Contract Administrator Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of experience related to contracts.
- Understanding of the legal requirements related to applicable contracts.
- Experience with SAP/ERP systems and proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional communication, cognizance, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
